There is movement at the station!! I finally got back to the 262. Here's the news:
I stripped the wagon and turned it out to pasture. (quite literally)
Then I pulled in the 262, bit the bullet and tore out the V6. Pictures speak loader then words. I have been hoping that the thing would let me down somewhere, but the truth is, it has been running really rather well. Always starts and gets down the road just fine. I did some performance testing, and that is what did it. 16 seconds 0-100!
Out out foul French demon!
I'm still amazed at how compact the LS is.
This is where the challenge is. Making that transmission fit.
And there she blows. After about 8 tries and much hammering. I have verified that the headers fit. All good. I nearly had a heart attack when I found the rack was slightly different. I have made it work though. Mounts work great. no major dramas so far. The drive shaft is an exact fit too.
Underneath, I remade the trans mount as I was not that happy with the one I made last time. The new one is much better.
The engine sits 4 degrees tail down, and the diff is about level. So I have 4 degrees to get rid of.
The exhaust is coming along too. I tried rigging the transmission shifter but will need to do a bit more hammering yet. Nothing drastic.
