90gabe Hey guys! I've been browsing the threads on oz volvo for quite some time now while I slowly work on my 89 245. So far all that I've done is a manual conversion and I'm now getting ready to +t it. While there seems to be a lot of discussion surrounding oil return lines I think that I will go with the pan option over the block option. Essentially I'm looking for recommendations as to a workshop that could undertake this for me, I am located on the north shore in Sydney so if anyone can suggest any businesses that would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, Gabe
Ex850R Hello Gabe , welcome, I believe that one of the Bruce's has one he will sell , may be cheaper. Its not a hard job , any old steel fabrication shop could do it , ideally it would have a hole pulled to form a sleeve the socket of choice slides into and then silver solder would be fine , brazing also. This way there is reduced heat effect on the pan. Otherwise just bung it on , weld it and drill hole after it cools down. Not being in Sydney , I defer to those other poor peeps you reside with up there as I live in Victoria. ... Give us lots of pictures of the car , the work in progress anything!? Good luck with the build. L.
nickm I had a B230FB block modded for squirters and an oil return by Parry engineering. If the block has the casting, all late model B230 block do, drill and tap it. remove a section of the turbo return and match to a Parry LW. 206 Princes Hwy Arncliffe NSW 2205 (02) 9597 5566
90gabe Thanks for all the advice guys! It's greatly appreciated! I should perhaps start a build thread as I now have many more questions now that the turbo is on. I switched both the fuel and ignition computers out of a 92 940 turbo and it doesn't like the fuel computer at all. It will not idle and stalls at any gradient. Could this be perhaps because I have not yet swapped in my new injectors or possibly because I have used the original amm instead of the amm that belongs to the 940? Again any help/ advice is greatly appreciated! Gabe
VolvoHordz From memory the AMM is the same between trubo and NA. You still running the NA injectors? they will provide way way to little fuel and you are risking blowing the motor. You need to replace the injectors with something that will supply enough fuel.
90gabe What's the difference between a 6 wire amm (turbo) and 5 wire amm (na)? I have not yet installed the injectors so I'm assuming that that's my issue.
nickm @90gabe what was the original ECU for LH 2.2 or 2.4? Could be the TPS, ICV too or just a simple air leak.
90gabe The original ECU was 2.4, its hard to determine if it was the injectors as now the new injectors aren't working. I have power and fuel getting to the injectors but they are not spraying. They are Bosch type 0280150558 440CC EV1 42lb/ hr and they are reading good on resistance.
Angus242164 Here is what I've done on my project B230FX block: Drilled, tapped, fitting suits a -10AN fitting which has a good ID for a T3 drain tube, but I think I'm going to have to go down to a -8 instead, as -10 hose doesn't have enough flex to curve up to the turbo over such a short distance, and I already have a -8 flanged fitting to match the turbo drain flange anyway.
Slowbrick When we +T'd my 240 we went with the pan option. I had an exhaust shop bend me a piece of pipe and then welder tigged it to the pan from the inside. 2 and a half years later it is still working with no leaks yet. +T's can be fun but if i were to do it all over again i would just go with a turbo motor its just easier.
