Great looking car. Silver works, the gold never did it for me.
Now instead of wondering what its like under the vinyl roof, it could be questioned what's under the matt black paint!
So, who from here is likely to have a bat?
DCW242
This guy has had this for a long time, he had lots of other rare Volvos but sold most of them last year, I wanted to buy this but apparently they wanted 22k for it, I thought it would never sell, but I was told it sold for that about a week later, Doesn't surprise me it didn't actually sell.
The fact that it has no vinyl on the roof is immediately a bad sign, all 262s rust badly in the roof, more so if they had vinyl from factory, the shape at the bottom on the C pillars looks different to factory, without the factory trims there it is flat and steps in, the trims cover a weld line there. Also there are some cracks at the bottom of the C pillar, I'd say it's hiding a fair bit of rust.
A friend of mine went and looked at it for me last year and said there is a fair amount of filler in the rear left quarter and it was sitting down on the left hand side, and some other signs of accident damage. Apparently it also has an aftermarket exhaust system which is pretty loud, and the water pump was leaking.
Interesting that he says the chassis number is 6666, they only built 6622 world wide.
Just a warning that it might be a much bigger project than what it looks, finding a complete and unrestored one like this isn't easy though, I would probably be bidding on it myself except I found another one in the meantime, it should be a good project for someone.
