Eugene Okay, there are few of these beasts out there and am assuming they all do the same job. But which of these would give the best bang (or roar) for buck and comes down to being a performer? 1) IPD's Short RAM Intake Air Filter 2) Viva's CCI Intake Air Filter 3) BSR Tuning's Intake Air Filter 4) K & N Intake Air Filter Thanks for any information!
Spac What motor? Previous dyno testing and butt-dyno experience with various RWD Volvos says that there is absolutely zero gain to be had by altering the air cleaner assembly on an otherwise stock car. I don't imagine this changed for the FWD cars.
egads Buy a big box of good quality paper filters (mahle or something) and change them each service. Stock airbox is good.
Eugene 16G 2.3 Turbo Auto Transmission........ Mixed reviews and noticed that if anything, noise levels increase!
jamesinc I just bought an IPD kit. It looks very well-made. Will install when I feel less sick, but I bought it because it looks cool, I don't realistically expect it to make a noticeable difference to driving (other than fully sik whoosh sounds)
Eugene Went to a Mods Specialist, who looked at the 850R and he said that the car does not need the cone intake kit as the stock cold air intake design is well done and does the job.
Julian I installed the IPD kit in my car, because I found someone selling one on gumtree. No noticeable difference in vehicle performance, but more whoosh and pssshh. I actually don't think it looks all that good, and if anything is probably more of a "hot air intake" than the standard setup. I have just left it for the induction noise.
