Why does this not have an intercooler?

It looks like it does but an AM one... Zoom in on the valance panel... Can you see that cracking/broken edge? Damaged or replaced at some point???

Same I/C as all the other turbo cars. That plastic can be age hardened and maybe they lifted the radiator out that way , these cars need cooling system replaced at approx 180,000k , dropping it out bottom is easiest. Boost gauge on steering column , reverse intake to I/C and probably MBC mean its got stuffed turbo or valve seals or maybe just a leaky turbo oil feed tube gasket.

I call bullshit. I reckon they have upturned the pipe that is supposed to go from the throttle to the top of the intercooler and joined it straight to the outlet of the turbo with the flexible hose on top.
intercooler may be there but it is not connected.

Has too ! Must have a blocked intercooler or thought it would go better that way....$50.
