goodenough Just another t5. Potentially a good car. Or rattled to pieces on harder suspension. Front heavy. Hates pot holes. I am pretentious towards 850s though.
Spac It would depend on how it drove and how well it's been looked after. A good one for $3k would be a good buy that would make you happy. A shitty one for $3k would be an infuriating nightmare of interior rattles, suspension clunks, poor performance, and warning lights. My gut feeling is that this car is probably closer to the Infuriating Nightmare than a Good One, but you can only know when you have a good look and take it for a drive.
nickm Looks like work has been done but they didn't change the coolant tank...To me that says you may need a lot of money to get it to stage zero.

nickm Stage 0 means bringing the car back to factory specs by what routine maintenance needs to be done or should have been done. You are best starting there before upgrading bits. If the car is not running right you potentially can damage it or not see the gains promised. So things like spark plugs, HT leads, Rotor cap and button, air filter, injectors, fuel filters, oil change, cam belt, serpentine belt, transmission flush, coolant system is 100%, all hoses are sound, making sure all the suspension bushes,cv joints, bearings are good and so on. Things that a well maintained car should be and things that have been over looked in servicing.
Ex850R Most bushes and hoses are toast on all P80 chassis I have seen. Owners will not pay. A workshop soon loses customers when they say it's another 1000 on top of a service for something they will not think is needed. 2nd and 3rd owners drive them to death. Radiator, heater, etc....
94_850_t5 I like the 850 T5's but would prefer to go for an unmolested well cared for model rather than a modified unit. I know that this car is a long way from you but something more like this. http://www.carpoint.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=SSE-AD-4772782&Cr=1
Vee_Que Not that modified, work that commonly needs doing is done. Stock is a set of shocks away. The 16t was stock for a 850r, being new is good.
