Bench seats 240

Hi all. Brace yourself for a stupid question...did the 240 come with a bench seat option or dicky seat?

No. There was a unicorn 140 bench seat option but i have only ever seen it in 1 picture.

Never seen or heard of a front bench seat for a 240 in Australia. But considering the number of weird variants they made, I would not be the slightest bit surprised if they existed in Europe.

Wagons could be optioned with a third row of seats. It was another two seats for small people, facing rearward. The fold down into the boot floor when not in use.
Semi commonly selected option (between one third and one quarter of 240 wagons had them, in my experience). The third row of seats were all beige, regardless of the rest of the interior colour, and you need the steel support member that fits behind the top of the second row of seats. This is often lost/missing, and is much harder to find than the dickie seats themselves.

I'm thinking I'll look for a bench that's the roughly the same width and fab up supports to bolt in. Thinking something like a toyota hilux and go from there. I'm only thinking hilux as I'm going to use a blue vinyl.

Mark has a 240 hearse which has bench seat, well, the only seat is a bench, the bench is a bench.... but in the back. More of a bed than a bench but harder with metal rails....
The auto shifter is perched on the rhs top of the dash.
Good thinking on the old model hilux bench though.

Im planning on doing a 240 to 245L conversion but would like a bench seat in the front to take my children in. I just found out its a kingswood bench.....looking for something with the cut away for the shifter.

The OEM 240 rear-facing dickie seat had a small weight limit. I forget how many kg now, but it wasn't much. Two children could easily go over it, especially considering how long people hold onto the cars.

Move shifter up from where it is, hacking as spot in dash though.. Also, hazard for centre passenger. Will a P80 rear seat fit width wise?
That would give 2 part fold down ability.
Can measure my 240 and my v70 widths.
I'll be back.

I have a 1989 245 that has a black leathery 3rd row seat - in New Zealand

HQ tonner had a cutaway from factory for 4 speed
