1987 Volvo 240 light steering

Hello.

I have a 1987 240 Sedan that I'm getting ready to register and it seems to have very light steering (to the point of it being dangerous). It has the Cam Gear rack.

Things that I don't think are causing it:

- Tyres are not overly inflated - I had these wheels and tyres my other 240 recently.

- Power steering ball joints are not installed back to front - They are offset toward the front of the car.

There's plenty of info on power steering that is hard to turn, but not much on it being too easy. I'm trying to avoid getting a wheel alignment until after registered and preferably only once (if I end up having to change a the rack).

Any thoughts?

Update on progress for anyone in the future with similar issues.

I got a wheel alignment done. Steering is still super light but doesn't feel dangerous now.

I'll get around to checking the pressure regulator in the power steering pump or just try another pump in the future and report here if I remember.

Looking happy after it's first car wash in roughly 10 years.

Worn shock absorbers both ends?
Tyres too skinny?

Looks good!
Watch out, those car washes use crap chemicals.
Best wash is hand wash with proper suds, you get to know the nooks and crannies and regular waxing will keep clear coat happy.

Undertray behind fr spoiler missing?
If the rear is low/sagging this will make the front end light -> remedy.
As Snoopy says shocks/struts. Volvo oem Sach are vg.
Upgrade tyres eg. Michelin Pilot Sport 4.

Going from old cheap tyres to newish cheapish tyres on my 240 on front made a massive difference.
Going to the 16" wheels with great Dunlop tyres will make it amazing....
