Are Aluminium wheel nuts ok to use?
Tigabu
In my book, no...
Rob
That was my first thought. There are lots around but.
Tigabu
Yes. The 'shear' strength of these nuts just doesn't fill me with confidence and they are susceptible to cross-threading at a lower threshold of operator error...
Ex850R
Yes to Tiga's no..
Tigabu
Electrolysis... Bronze thread paste, but grit collection...
Vee_Que
Nope.
AshDVS
No.
Rob
Just to clarify, I am not getting any.
Tigabu
So that would be a 'no' then? =))

Better than no wheel nuts though.

Good quality ones would be fine. The bit where most of them seem to be very Chinese is what worries me the most - although you'd get a very good idea of their quality the moment you torqued the first one up (if not before).
I would expect that they'd have a finite lifespan, in terms of the number of times they go on and off.

By the time you are trimming weight by lightening wheel nuts you should be chucking them every time they come off right?
Spac
Yeah, I'll pay that! :)
