Hey guys,
Clutch is on the way and my whining 5th is doing my head in. I have a very nice, low km one owner box ready to go in.

Question is, roughly what's it going to cost to get a clutch and my gearbox put in?
And is it worth selling my box and doing a t5 swap? Car is a 240+t and with future mods won't be much more than it is now
A box swap with clutch supplied, on a dished flywheel, you'd expect to spend 5-600 depending on the clutch kit used.

A t5 swap will cost 1200-1600 depending on the gearbox you use.
I think I like the idea of selling my m47 and going t5 route just for sturdiness. I've scanned that t5 conversion but couldn't find what box would suit the 240?
Roughly what would my spare m47 be worth, tight as with like 110 thou on it?
Depending on the rest of the gearbox, the small bearing in the rear that causes this sound is relatively easy to fix if you are comfortable with dismantling the rear of the gearbox. You may be able to keep the box for a while yet. Don't throw it out, they are not making any more. I am planning to dismantle a couple soon and see how hard it is to make a good one out of two. I will post on my observations when I get to it.

was never planning on throwing it out, surely someone else would want it

M47s are rare, so easily over 300. The closest box is an El/Ef falcon box, with a modified input shaft.

I will be doing a run of adaptor plates soon also.

The other factor is going to a flat flywheel with 240mm falcon clutch. I redrill flywheels to suit as well as drill flat flywheels to suit LH2.4

Planning to do the T5 conversion soon. I will have the engine out of the car so the question is ; Is it better to fit the T5 box to the engine outside of the car and then install them both combined? Are there any clearance issues that need to be considered? Hate working under the car and looking to avoid it as much as possible.

I'm currently putting my engine back together out of the car and will be mounting the t5 so I can drop it all in at once. If it'll fit the tunnel without issues is a bridge I'll cross later if needed.
What about an EB or ED falcon T5?
Are you currently running a M46 or M47?

I'm using an eb box. Shortest possible, will have to enlarge the shifter hole rearward slightly
Can't you just get an offset shifter?
