Go 24v over 12v?

Feel completely different, extra 30 kw I think and you notice it . Not sure from a practical or mechanical point of view , but my heart always rules my head when it comes to cars !

same here...can hurt the wallet though

An M103 12-valve 4-speed auto is less complicated and less powerful than an M104 24-valve 5-speed auto.
Would be worth joining / searching www.OzBenz.net or posting the question. There's considerable experience there and from memory a similar question not too long ago.
BTW There's also the later 320CE with electronic fuel injection (HFM I think it's called) that may be worth a look too.

Either 12v or 24v they are sweet car - obviously if you can get a 24v go for it, but buy the best one you can and don't get too caught up with the number of valves - both have a lovely in line 6. You won't look back on a Sunday when you cruise down to the shops for a carton of milk, you'll know why out got it - 6 cylinders, pillarless, auto, leather. Perfect for a hangover..... and your partner can (will) drive it.

Real nice vehicle - very long length though. Depending on year.... some are going up in value
Don't forget you get what you pay for, as in nice if there were lots of reciepts.

And plenty of work if there is a problem.
Personal experience favours the 12 valve, but if you think your luck is good, the 24v is a sweet smooth drive.
Buy history, the more complete and anal, be thankful.

I had a 300E (12 valve), 1989 IIRC. Same engine, I assume. Sweet car for everyday driving and a great long distance cruiser. Check for valve/stemwear -pull a plug and see if sooty. Mine had low miles and a complete MB service history but valve/stems very worn by 175k. Not a hard job but can get exy.
And remember the old saying: the most expensive car you'll ever buy is a cheap Mercedes.
