The pistons are stock sized – made, in theory, to fit. There's a risk that the bores become oval apparently, so that might be a factor and I may need to go up a size..
Wossner pistons already have the recommended clearance built in
I'm basically asking for the piston-bore clearance to be set, and to give the block and head a clean up ready for assembly.
I've actually just got a quote from Phillip Heads for $1500 total. The other shop were guessing over 2k without doing a proper quote.
Now I must admit, $1500 is more than I want to spend. I may have been a touch optimistic about this..
I might be able to cull some of the head work they've specced in the job (though setting up valve clearance sounds quite important..), and I think I can possibly avoid having the head/block decked.
Not sure what to do. Might have to put it back together with new chains gaskets etc for now after all.
