Fitted an ipd cold air/ram air intake today

Hey all,

So I bought a second hand ipd cold air/ram air intake from Gumtree today and installed it. It's more whooosh now!

My turbo control valve can't reach the mounting point on the new aluminium sheet wall around the filter. At the moment I just have it cable tied out the way until i get some more vacuum line to run to the valve. I was wondering why the sheet metal plenum has a cutout that would be blanked by the turbo control valve though? It doesn't look like the valve has any part which extends into the plenum so not sure what that cutout is doing there?

Also, the original air box was very well sealed and still had the same plastic tube running from the front grille area to the air box. It looks like the new sheet metal plenum wouldn't be sealed from engine bay hot air as well as the original (eg: air could flow from the wheel side of the plenum where it doesn't seal fully against the wheel well). I guess the pod filter maybe flows better than the pleated panel filter of the original air box, but I suppose I'm not really sure the thinking behind why this system would be better than the original?

It does sound a bit cooler though!

In this one you can see the two small holes for the turbo valve screws underneath the air flow meter. There is a rectangular cutout between them and I don't know why.

Turns out that by logging in just through my browser I can upload photos, but not via Facebook login

This system is not better than original, it sounds better and that's about it.

Ive just got a massive pod hanging in my engine bay, I never felt a drop in power, and didn't record a loss in economy

The stock one is way better than you think.....
Its all about the intercooler piping and exhaust.

The square cutout is for the later me4.4 turbo control valves, they have a plastic bracket that hooks into the cutout, maybe you have the earlier 850 style tcv.
