Hey all,
So recently have seen that there is quite a substantial drip coming from the auto transport in my 244 and found it is a pinkish fluid. So have diagnosed it is transmission fluid or at least 99% sure. That is problem 1. The next thing I found was when I went to top up my Coolant reservoir it had traces of the same pink fluid floating on top of the coolant. So I have read that the only way this can happen is that a blockage or leak inside the radiator for the transmission oil cooler can mix with the coolant. Is this a major threat? I haven't got any head gasket issues as the engine oil is fine. Could it be that the coolant may be fillin the transmission too much and the leak is the overflow?
Any help would be appreciated. Also some ideas on how to go fixing this would be great too. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, pretty sure you have it spot on. Your rad will have failed internally and is mixing water and transfluid which will kill your trans pretty quick.

Ok cool. Thanks mate. Is it just just a case of getting another radiator and replacing fluids after a flush? Are all 240 radiators the same?
Just one more thing, would the leak from the transmission be due to the excessive liquid or do you suspect an actual leak from the trans too?

100% agree with egads.
If you're not going to fix it yourself, DO NOT DRIVE IT! Get it towed to your workshop of choice. It will need not only a new radiator, but a full flush of the transmission and filter change. It's also worth considering a separate transmission oil cooler that doesn't run ATF through the radiator.
Once the transmission begins slipping, it's cactus. Found this out the hard and very expensive way, with a 4L60E in a V8 Commodore.

Also cheaper to get a separate trans cooler and radiator.

Awesome thanks heaps. Would I need a new radiator and a oil cooler or just a separate oil cooler? Would I need to block off any outlets if I kept the current radiator
element36
Just saw you said I will need a new radiator. Sorry.
So would you guys suspect I have a leak in the trans or just the radiator at this stage if the pink fluid is dripping?
egads (she/her)
Internal leak in the radiator between water and oil section is the common failure point.

So what would be causing the pink fluid drip from underneath the transmission?
