pastry Vee_Que;102797 wroteInteresting to buy a Chinese torque wrench from Amazon. They almost are all the same, I hope it did cost less than $100 for the wrench and sockets. Not really worth more than that here. Time will tell, you may be right but the reviews seemed unanimously positive – again, for the price! And yes, they were pretty cheap.
Vee_Que Like, an aldi one is $30, and isn't that inaccurate, but my Warren and brown one which is 10 times that price, is just very nice and I know it's accurate, so that's used for important jobs. Warren and brown now sell Chinese made ones that are at least calibrated by them for half the cost of thier Australian made unit too.
pastry must admit i am always swayed by the notion that any tool sold in the US for say 50 bucks is the equivalent to a tool sold here (at eg: Bunnings or SCA) for 200 bucks. But yeah when I have a leaking head gasket that I thought I'd torqued correctly, i'll be bloody moaning :P
Philia_Bear I need to upgrade my analog 1/2" torque to a digital one soon Still trying to work out of there is a better option to the snap on one

My craftman one got missused by a non volvo mate and broken He gave me $$$ to buy a new one and ive wanted a digital one that does angle as well as torque Prefer one that vibrates and makes sound when you hit the set torque or angle
VolvoHordz I have had the 1/2" Stanley set for 6 odd years now and haven't managed to break any sockets yet. The ratchet wont always hold its selection anymore though, I suspect the little spring in it is broken. Meant to have a lifetime warranty so I'll need to look into that. Same thing has happened to the ratchet in my 3/8" Standley set. 1/4" Stanley set is still perfect. Wouldn't put me off buying them again. My brother has the Bahco set. Don't think he has broken anything in it yet (not through lack of trying) and its a great 'grab and go' set with most of anything you need to fix stuff out and about.
gavinh Well I have a selection of tools, my socket sets consist of tengtools in 1/4inch up to 13mm, Weira cyclops in 3/8th that's up to 19mm thats is in my break down bag for work, bacho for 1/2inch up to 32mm, whiteline (UK) brand in 1inch imp and metric also a whiteline set which covers from 1/4-1/2inch. The bacho and Weira set are used all the time. I only buy at best I can afford. And never had an issue with any of them. .
UNM I have been extremely happy with the Workzone set I bought at Aldi for $59 a couple years back. 4mm to 14mm 1/4" drive sockets 10mm to 32mm 1/2" sockets (missing 18mm which is an annoyance and I had to buy a single socket for that) 6mm to 19mm deep sockets hex keys screwdriver bits (torx, hex, regular) 1/4 and 1/2" ratchet handles with extra fine ratchet teeth. I initially bought a Repco set for more. The first time I used it one of the sockets deformed and slipped - bolt was only torqued to about 250Nm - -the Aldi set has been used on bolts torqued to over 300Nm (due to age/rust) without difficulty. Have always found Aldi tools of good quality and they sell the socket sets a couple times a year. Edit: Also, with Aldi you can get a refund no questions asked if you change your mind or the product doesn't have necessary WAF.
Ex850R My basic aldi set of 1/2" up to 23? The handle came off but still brilliant. Use the sockets on the Milwaukee impact gun.

sucksqueezebangblow @jamesinc my electrical wholesaler sells the bahco stuff for less than retail I would think. I never compared though, just put in on account. If u want a price, find me a part number for the kit and I'll ask them.
jamesinc Okay so I did end up going with the Bahco S106 set. It has 1/2" sockets up to 34mm, everything is 6-point (except for the spanners), and it neatly replaces a bunch of tool boxes with a single box, which is really nice for when I want to go to the parts yard, or just chuck it in the back of the car before a long trip. The ratchet mechanisms are nice, there is very little slack in the movement, less than my Kincrome set. The set is very nicely laid out, and the orange top and directional latches make it very difficult to accidentally open it upside down. The ring spanner set comes out and can be carried separately. Here are some detail photos:
sucksqueezebangblow Thats the same set I have and agree it feels as good or better than the Kincrome stuff I have.
