This is a January 2007 V50 2.4i vehicle, non-turbocharged.
Starting is hit and miss.
Sometimes it will burst into life on key turn and other times can crank for 5 or more seconds before it fires. Once running she goes like a dream.
Hot or cold makes no difference.
I am thinking it is a faulty Fuel Pressure Sensor (FPS) but open to suggestions.
Battery only 12 months old.
Am I right in thinking the Volvo part is 31272733?
Does this equate to BOSCH # 0 261 230 236?
Best place to buy one? I am in Sydney.
Anyone else had this issue and did a new FPS fix it?
Philia_Bear
Fps would have lots of issue when driving more than starting
Dodgy fuel pump would be my first guess
Im in western sydney and happy to scan the car for free for you using a volvo dice unit if you want

Hi Philia Bear. Thank you for the offer. What is a dice unit?
The codes have been checked and there are no codes showing at all.
I had considered it was the either the FPS or the fuel pump and was hoping it wasn't the fuel pump. Car has only done 78,000km. Had thought to spray some electrical cleaner on the FPS contact just in case but haven't got around to that yet.
Next step I guess is to put a gauge on the fuel line and measure any pressure drop?
How is the fuel pump accessed? Does the tank need to be removed to get to the pump?
Does the replacement need to be genuine Volvo (coding issues)?
edit: Sorry for what seems like assault and battery by rapid fire question. I didn't want to clog the thread with unnecessary words. :)

Unless you have had the car scanned with a volvo issued dice unit the car has not been scanned
Normal scan readers can only read about 1% of the codes in a volvo
I can also use the dice to watch real time values of the pump and amm and tps and everything else
Fuel pump is a pita but not that bad
truthinbeer
Where is the fuel pump accessed on this model?
Philia_Bear
Under the rear seats/ rear cargo area
Its a pita and your MUCH better off pulling codes first as the PEM does not store codes that a normal code reader can read
