pastry Yeah it'll work out! It's not the most exciting package i've received – no 3" downpipes or sport suspension! – but it's a solid one. On another note, got a recommendation for tyres? I don't have to do them immediately but when I do I'll do all 4.
bigal Mine came with brand new Yoko Geolander ATS's. I quite like them. Would go them again but would be open to fuel efficient highway tires as thats how its driven most of the time. As the weather has turned here in Tassie heading into winter I'm glad the Geo's are on. I feel like climbing a snowy muddy track now.
pastry hah, yeah i do miss some of those managed forest roads – lived in Cygnet for a year and would walk the dog in the woods. So in all the vids i've watched it seems like people just gently extract all the fuel pump lines through the tank. Of course, mine gets bloody stuck on something and I can't seem to find a route through! Other than that it seems a nice easy job.. i'll just have to persevere and probably swear at it quite a lot!
pastry got the pump in last night, lots of jiggling to get the lines to come out but the new pump lines went in first time. Few bits to tidy away then i'll be firing her up.
pastry hah well all I can tell you is that after a cough and splutter while fuel was delivered from the new pump via the new filter, it started right up! It still sounds absolutely wrecked, but it's running! The Proof: my old phone takes shite pictures – kid smashed my 6S so back to an iPhone 4.. good times!
pastry yeah must be a couple of hundred kg missing! lock it to permanent AWD, drop it, dirty tune and a big exhaust.. rally XC90! (XC60 but you get the idea) Or cut the back off and make it a Ute?
pastry Took it for a spin today, like being in a van with all those cushy comfortable bits removed. And yeah feels a bit more spritely for an old (albeit knackered) girl with that weight removed. @Philia_Bear how's Sunday arvo to drop it off?
pastry Interior back in, feels good to know its a lot more clean (Megs all purpose and a scrubbing brush FTW)
pauljloz pastry;103221 wrote There was a lovely coat of sweet molasses-like stuff under the carpet where some darned spoilt snot-nosed kid had spilt his Coca Cola in 2006. still impressed with how well put together this thing is. Second row seat frames are impressive! As is their ease of removal (not so easy to remove third row).
pauljloz pastry;103046 wroteyeah you can get the bolts out, it's a squeeze – I did that before removing the trim. But you can't remove the frame (at least as far as I was able) without removing the trim, because the frame underlaps the trim by quite a bit. You'd have to be willing to bend/flex/damage the trim I'd think. There's certainly access to areas that you'd not be able to clean with the 3rd row in, though – so if you are a fastidious person Al I think it's the only way to get all those bits of orange peel out. FWIW the trim came out really quite easily and is solidly put together, so I didn't feel at risk of breaking anything. Yes hit all needs to come out for the frame removal - but the carpet comes out at this point and that's a good start when trying to access to the pump.
pastry yep that's very true – if I ever need to change out the fuel level sender or even do the pump again, i'd def do it that way. @bigal i know this job has been worrying you, but it's not bad at all. Probably much easier than the PCV kit because it's all so easy to get at. Actually I had more trouble getting a new rubber parking brake pad on! I realised I probably bought one for LHD cars.. but made do On a related note, my parking brake seems really noisy – are they all like this or does it just need servicing/greasing? Bloody loud contraption!
bigal Loud applying the foot park brake or releasing it? Mine releases with an almighty bang. I dampen it now by resting my left foot on the pedal while pulling the release handle. I now no longer get people staring at me and sometimes asking 'what's wrong with your car'.
pastry no when applying – it's like a ship raising an almighty anchor, "clunk clunk clunk" as it hits each lock position. I do the same when releasing, the huge "whoom!" as it releases is quite frightening for a sleeping 5 week old ;) Most solutions on this thing seem quite elegant, but the parking brake probably isn't one of them. Going to give the TB a clean at lunch, all being well.
