I've found another one, 1977 264GL with 200k log booked Genuine 2 owner. Has been sitting in a garage for last 3 years as owners are too old to drive. What should I be looking for with a 77 model? I know from talking to the owners representative that the brakes have bound up, there is a trans leak from a pipe connector and one hubcap missing from the steel wheels. Apparently has mechanical fuel injection? Views and opinions?

Made the offer, it has been accepted. Subject to final inspection by my agent this afternoon and further photo's of service book etc. I'll be sending a deposit ASAP to ensure this one doesn't get away. More info to follow once I know. Maybe missed the blue one for a reason?

I think you won't go wrong with the 264. Prv v6 will need some love most likely but you appear to only run into headaches with lack of maint or adding power. May need cams by now also but not sure on the strength of the lobes on the early ones.

The early ones had oiling and sludging issues which led to cam wear. B280 & late b28 fixed this.

I take it that very regular oil changes including oil flushes reduces the incidence of these failures? What grade & brand of oil is best? Or this a can of worms!

Well it has been all good news. Quite opposite of Fridays bad news. Had the car inspected this afternoon & the comment was made that this was possibly the best 264GL he had ever seen. The advice given to me was not to let it get away. Price agreed upon, SOLD!

Now to get it home to the ACT. I'm hoping to fly up/drive back on a permit. Then get it onto Historical Rego here, what's the drum about that? Is that difficult?

Yes, Mobil 1 seems agreed upon for the v6.

I will most likely be driving it home with a permit. Will give the Mobil 1 treatment prior to departure.
