240 Are you referring to the temp gauge in the instrument cluster (on the right, between the speedo and the fuel level gauge) or do you mean an oil temperature gauge? If the former, I have one from an 85 cluster that should work for you. Any gauge will not do, Angus is right about there being two different types.
Angus242164 There are no factory fit round gauges available for a 1980 model. From 1981 onwards the later dash was used, which has provision to fit up to five additional 52mm round gauges, the ones normally seen in Australia are clock, volts, ambient temp, vacuum, oil pressure, sometimes oil temp. Overseas some others were available like a small tacho, and a turbo gauge. For a 1980 model there is an R-Sport cluster available, which replaces the standard cluster. It's a flat panel with round VDO gauges in it, speedo, tacho, coolant temp, fuel, volts and oil pressure.
gtsid You are right what you are saying but there was a provision for the early 240 before they change the dashboard to fit the 52m gauges it was a very rare triple 52m gauge holder that sat on top of the center speaker on the dash board if you research factory accessories from Volvo you Will find it,I already have the r sport cluster I need it for my holder
Angus242164 I have seen those gauge pods, a guy in the US also makes reproductions of them. So you are looking for a 52mm coolant temp gauge? No such part exists from Volvo, but there will be a VDO version that looks similar to the Volvo gauges.
gtsid Sorry there is a factory engine temp gauge there are two types one in farinhight and the other in celus
egads (she/her) Oil temp: External Ambient Temp: Penta boat gauge is maybe what you are thinking? Otherwise it is the different versions of this that go in the main cluster
