2008 C30 T5 Spare Key Fob

Hi,

I bought a used c30 recently and was only provided one key. I called a Volvo dealer for a quote and it was $550 so is there an alternative or is doing it at Volvo the only option I have?

Yes, you can get a new key elsewhere, but a Volvo dealer will need to code it. I got this exact one for my V50 through Berry Motor Group (actually made the dealer I bought the car from pay for it). Cost was $200 new. The coding varies a bit depending on whether they run into any issues. In the range of say $100 if very lucky through to high 100s.

Thanks @Chris for the advice! So I can get a used one on ebay for like $100 and just get it programmed at Volvo? That'd be good. Volvo dealer quoted it like this: Key fob $343, programming $180, and metal key part in the fob $27.

I would ask the dealer if they will code a second hand key before I bought one. They may also be false economy because if they have been dropped a few times they are more likely to fail at some point. I would recommend going new.

If you buy a used key off ebay you need to have the transmitter code (this is supplied with the new key).
Without that it's difficult, if not impossible to code.

Best to go new if you can.
