No movement in D or R (revs freely)
No Codes in vida (how the hell you can put it in drive and not go anywhere and not get a code for something I dont get...)
I dont even get limp home mode....
Only thing I can see in vida... the s1/S2 selonoids are using 2x the amps of S3 and or S4/5
S1/2 = 1500ma
S3 = 700ma
S4/5 = 700ma
Fluid level is normal, fluid colour is slightly brown but still mostly red
no-real warning before failure... just pretty much dumped into N and that was it
My thought at this point is around pulling it to clean it and then put it back in... but thats 16+ hours of effort :-(
My first thought is to crush the car
My second thought is to crush the car
My third thought is M56 Swap and make it FWD...
My last idea... is to just fork out real money for an exchange unit
Clifs notes are that the car is otherwise perfect with a nice interior and cold aircon and pretty much every option you could oder from volvo
Tigabu
16 hours is worth it then ;-)
Ex850R
Clutch pack I remember Mehmet talking about for his , $2000?? from USA .
He did say its a pull the front off more or less...
Mist be the 16 hours you speak of.
Are you gonna keep it?
Spac
Older FWD auto conversion viable?
Philia_Bear
Tigabu;10442 wrote16 hours is worth it then ;-)
not sure, I might be able to sell it for $2k after canceling the rego so... that is a tempting idea as well

The 4 speed can be swapped in but means paddle shift....
Philia_Bear
Have done some investigation
Volvo Exchange = $4300ish
Rebuild with new valve body though someone in SYD =$3000ish
Rebuild through someone in vic = $unknown
Mike pulls the box and cleans everything and hopes for the best = $400
Mike pulls the box and converts the car to FWD manual = $unknown

What are the solenoids worth? If its only that they are dirty there shouldnt be a problem cleaning them?
nickm
force a code by disconnecting something.
Vee_Que
They aren't quite like that snoopy unfortunately.
Ex850R
Solenoids are pretty simple electro mechanical valves , if its the electic bit , surely its heat related and either component failure or the solder is bad , the volve cant go too wrong at all , maybe its been loked at before but its worth looking at?
nickm
the idea of forcing a code is to check the ECU is working.....The ECU will normally show a solenoid fault.
Philia_Bear
electrics are fine
Selonoids appear to be possibly stuck
the car previously threw codes for S1/S2 not working right and for issues going in and out of neutral while stopped
I have to pull the thing no matter what... so I'm going to pull it and clean it and see if I cant find a real cause
when and if I find a cause I will decide what to do
I did make @Spac an offer today on the manual conversion kit and he is having a think about it
nickm
That still does not discount a ECU fault in the diag function.

I have Vida
The car is already tossing me codes for 100 other things
egads (she/her)
Toasted TCM? Or is it responding with realistic numbers in VIDA?

Numbers are what you would expect and change as you expect them to when I can get it to move
Philia_Bear
So....
Rebuild through alex's mate == $2500 with warrenty
Second hand trans from Ebay from a car I can drive before it gets pulled = $500
I'm really thinking I might just go with the second hand trans and then promptly flog the car off
Ex850R
Flush the crap outta the one in it yet? It may and has worked.
Flush the crap outta one you put in second hand and keep car , flush every 50,000K?
Vee_Que
Yeah that option sounds good!
