wagga I've bought a bad 2002 xc70 - after attempting to have all the problematics replaced: - turbo - PVC - fuel pump - timing belt & all front of engine parts - motor mounts - frame bushings so that I would have a reliable wagon for retirement - head gasket & possibly deeper problems have emerged. The local Volvo shop has quoted way too much. Plenty of wrecked motors for around $1300, and a brother in Brissie can go to the wreckers & listen to the donk run. So, are there any suggestions for a reliable mechanic in the area to R&R the motor? The vehicle is in Cairns at the moment. Dave.
Vee_Que Yeah. Sorry about your expenses. But the early ones will break autos and with all the other issues you've had. The auto will follow. A head gasket should be cheaper than an engine though. Maybe fix it and sell it straight away for a 2006 xc70 if your set on that model. Don't know of anyone in Cairns, Rob may though.
wagga The auto has been replaced with a refurbished, upgraded box. The other items, except for the turbo were preventative - I'm just looking for a vehicle for the next 10 years or so of retirement. I went with Volvo because I ran TurboWagons while living in California - I plan to go traveling here, and can sleep in the back. The seats are very relevant to my back issues. And I appreciate the feedback - used to be a regular poster on BrickBoard...
