Hey y'all. I'm after some advice. I can get a S80 T6 for a very good price, and I'm wondering what would be needed/changed to make it run in a 96 960 with a 6304S2 in it at the moment. im not loaded, so if it ends up looking too expensive I may just can the whole idea. Has anyone done this and can run me through what would be needed?

Ems and a turbo and a manifold and turbo back exhaust
The block will bolt in
The twin turbo setup is not usable for packaging reasons unless you want to route the exhaust out of the hood
The trans is easily managed by most any good ems setup
Or you can build a trans controller for under $150 for one
The trans is the same as in a 96 supra tt and can hold 300kw no questions asked
92+ 940t intercooler drops in
If you dont mind doing minor fab work its a pretty easy swap with lots of options

So if I were to can the 13s and go to a 16T? Regarding the ems, can the 960 ones not be altered in the way of a chip or flash? And what minor fab work are you suggesting?

The stock turbos are tdo4-9c
Nothing else will bolt on except for a bmw m52 (i might have the number wrong) manifold but it has the turbo in an unusable spot for a 960
960 ems will not work with a turbo setup
Either need to do a piggy back or replace the ems
Fab work == exhaust and manifold and pipe work

Ah ok I thought you meant there was more in depth stuff that needed fabbing. Any recommendations on a piggyback?

A 16t is too small for a 3l motor as well. There is threads on how to do it on turbobricks also.

Ems might be easier but I'm running on quite a tight budget. As soon as it was mentioned the 2 turbos wouldn't work it threw the whole project into question.
I'm not looking for massive amount of power, eg a 20T or anything, I'm just trying to make the 960 with the 6304S2 not such a slow whale.

EMS on the stock motor will improve response a considerable amount and increase power 20-25%
My stock B6304 with 400,000KM on it puts out 168KW on the dyno at 6800RPM
Stock motors generally put out 130KW max at the wheels
That is running a $350 MS1 setup tunned via wideband and butt Dyno
The stock 6200RPM rev limit and bad shift pattern is one of the larger killers as the motor makes good power to a safe rev limit of 7200RPM

I'm quite happy with the 6304S1 in the S90, but I can't find a S1 for the 960 here ? which is why I thought "screw it I can get a turbo motor, why not?" But if a simple ems without the motor would give it more kick, maybe make that LSD actually work once in a while, perhaps I'll just go down that route.

Yea but it's the extra costs involved. The intercooler and piping, exhaust work, finding a decent turbo to fit too. If I can get more power out of the slow ass motor without spending half of what I paid for the car, I'm gonna go that route. The only thing "philia-bear" is do you have the 204hp S1 or 174hp S2?

HY35 or 351 is near about perfect size with the T3 9cm housing

That's what they said about t3/4 hybrids on b230 ;P but I like it. Boost kicks in like a swift kick from the big boys boot.

If you're not after big power, then surely the obvious answer is to +T the B6304S?
I seem to recall someone doing a +T by adding a J-pipe to the stock 960 exhaust manifold. Not sure how you'd go for space in a RHD car, though.

I didn't think +T-ing a car with such flat cams would be worthwhile so never really thought about it

Yea that's why I didn't think adding a turbo would do much, because there's just fuck all lift. Do you think it would be worth doing though? Even if I just got the extra power to match my S90 which is a 6304S

So change the cams over instead? The slowness is down to diff ratios and probably an engine down on compression. The later ones had softer shifts etc too. Its a big combination.
What I mean is, a 16t is waaaay too small for a 3l engine.
