deleted_user_160 Garth;101736 wrotescandix in germany have new front vented rotors Always forget to check scandix, was hoping to get something local. And that toranas would cross over. Sadly their design is really odd.
Major Ledfoot Skandix would most likely be reselling the Brembo units, but freight from the EU can be a killer. I have yet to hunt for some, but I may end up looking at Summit or Rock Auto in the US, simply because of the sheer volume of 164s that were imported there means they'll have stock somewhere.
jrhendo Freight might be a killer, but these look the right spec: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-NOS-For-1972-1973-1974-1975-Volvo-164E-Vented-Front-Disc-Brake-Rotor-E091-/282373491501?hash=item41bec58b2d:g:6YYAAOSwl9BWHHLx&vxp=mtr This looks another option, but again freight is the unknown. https://shop.nordicar.com/en-gb/volvo-parts/remschijf-v-ate-geventileerd.html Jay, I should get to the shed tomorrow and can check I've got an old front disk if you're still interested. John
Ex850R Jay, my bro inlaw had discs to suit his spec for his Willwood calipers made in china, cheap I think. One set for the project Triumph Spitfire /Toyota Red top engine/w50box/WRX diff/mx5 rear suspension /SPAX coil overs. Worth it to get what you want I imagine.
deleted_user_160 He had discs made? Or has discs to suit his application, is it the same spec as ours?
Vee_Que Suit his specifications... Not 164. Rda should be able to make something. But the old discs are better made anyway.
deleted_user_160 Old discs may be well and good. Although if they are bloody hard to find/,non existent new discs are better.
jrhendo Jay, I didn't get a chance to get to the shed this week. I should be back at the farm late next week and will go there if you're still interested in seeing a 164 vented disk. John
Major Ledfoot Found some 164 rotors. $98.06 USD each, plus shipping. http://classic-volvo.com/volvo-part/brake-disc-rotor-164-front-ventilated-271mmfor-volvo/ £41,98 GBP each, plus shipping. https://www.motor-doctor.co.uk/products/1656702-brake-disc Search continues.
deleted_user_160 Hey @bgpzfm142 the motor doctor (Bremen units would be the choice) half the cost of the units from the US. However they are not the correct spec for us correct? 68mm over all height. We need 74mm no?
Major Ledfoot Yup. 74mm - or rather 62.6 + 11.5mm = 74.1 mm when brand new - as shown in the Brembo drawing for the 164E vented disc. Skandix have 8 left... at 99 Euro each plus shipping.
deleted_user_160 Just spoke with the motor doctor. They have no stock. Bugger. They were half the cost of everyone else
jrhendo Jay, I found some old164 disks if you want to borrow one. I'm near Bathurst until Tuesday then back to Newport NSW for about a week after that.
deleted_user_160 @bgpzfm142 i just had a light go off in my brain for the first time this month. the biggest issue we are facing with the rotor choice is, the availability of the 164 vented rotor. and the fact that the 200 girling rotors were different to the 164. (different offset) now if im thinking right, im putting fc/fd calipers on the 142. which will require new mounts/adapters. whats stopping me from making the new adapter to suit a 200 rotor? then all my issues with sourcing correct or even custom spec rotors a thing of the past?
