Maintaining a XC90

Hello, I'm new here and after some honest advice regarding whether it is more expensive to service and maintain a XC90 than car other brands of some size? I am looking to get something like this

even though it is slightly over what I want to spend.
I grew up in Scandinavia with all my family driving Volvos and know they are such good cars, but how is it over here in Melbourne to service them and to get spare parts, is it overly expensive? Currently driving a Holden station wagon but need a 7 seater and my heart says Volvo :) Any advice much appreciated TIA

This is the car I test drive this evening and looking a finalising tomorrow no more expensive than any other euro car I hope !

Hello, welcome!
There are lots and I mean pots of posts on this forum about buying an XC 90.
The one you listed may well have already been bought by a regular on here!
Others will chime in.
Petrol 5 cylinder turbo if all city driving, D5 if you get some good high speed highway runs now and again and do tow stuff.

and I would highly appreciate to know what You guys @Ex850R @Philia_Bear would offer the dealer if you buy it and pay it outright on the day. I am aware of what has to be done with it based on what @morgan mentioned here before but is there anything else to be concerned of in your opinion? Sorry if this is a silly question but I have no one to ask advice from. TIA

I am no expert, I hand over to @Philia_Bear and his sage advice, we all learn stuff here.
Sounds like a good one, obviously a lower price will be the go, tell them it's xmoz, they can improve their xmoz bonus by selling it to you or something....

Because >100k on the odo i would be aiming for $23k drive away with minimum of 6 months rego and full tank of fuel

Most places make kick backs of $500+ for finance so your worse off not doing finance for negotiations

Id want an inspection with a vida pull
I would be worried about swirl flap function and if a trans flush has ever been done

One big thing
Inspect the rear and open everything and check for hay or anything that smells like horse
If you find anything... run the fuck away

I offered Him $25000 drive away cash , he would not budge , Rego runs out soon and service light is on and will need tyres , drove nicely though and was very clean but did not have any options

Also would only let me get racv check , not interested in me taking it to a Volvo specialist!
