Hi there!
I saw this V70R on gumtree and i was wondering how much would a used automatic gearbox be?
The ad says it is driveable but in "limb mode" .
Any suggestions?

Those 5spd autos are what the xc70 ended up being..... Not as bad, don't recal the types....

99 will be a 4 speed. The limp mode will feel like gearbox and the lights will probably suggest it but it will be the ETM

Not an R just a 2.5 t if it's the gearbox it's hardly worth fixing , lots around cheap , v70 t5 on gumtree for $1000

Yeah i saw that one for 1000 bucks but it is on the east coast somewhere and it has no rego........
I have an 850 GLT from 1994 Automatic.......will that automatic fit in the 1999 V70 2.5T????

Just to let you know
I have been out yesterday and had a look at the V70.....the owner said that you cannot drive it for more than 20-25 minutes because the engine gets too hot and the damaged transmission would cause the engine to overheat (thats what the swedish car specialist in Perth told him). I found that strange.....so i asked him if the water level in the coolant reservoir rises when the engine is warming up and he said that it is, so i reckon it is the head gasket...after it i did that trick with the glove on the oil filler neck and it inflated.....i have not driven the car to determine if the tranny is really stuffed because i was quite sure that the head gasket is blown and the PCV needs to be replaced and that is enough for me........
