How are the 2005 xc90 2.5 t I know the t6 is shit but how are these ones ? Still dodgy transmission ? 151000 kms
5 speed AW box as used in the xc70....
It does better in the XC90 as the software was setup better but the underlying faults are all still there

The engine is fine... its just the trans...
Compared to my 05 odyssey auto ?
Isn't it same auto?
I was thinking, get cheap good xc90/70, fix gearbox properly and have some good driving g for some years then sell...

my xc90 2.5T is going great. I do 500kms a week for work and no dramas so far. About to hit 141,000. Will do frequent tranny oil drain and fills to give it as much life as possible.

I've got a 2006 2.5T and almost done 200000km,going great, spent a bit when I bought it last year but it was wear and tear, Xfer box was replaced with a 2nd hand by warranty company as the original one was missing teeth and also leaking,on that mileage , you need all engine mounts to be replaced, breathing system, timing belt ,radiator etc,if all of those been already done, you are good for another 100000km.
Usually either pay $20000 and buy a low millage around 100000km or pay $10000 and buy a high mileage and spend $4000 or a bit more to get it up to date.
Having said that, if the car been serviced on time , there would be no issue but if previous owner had missed the oil service or regular maintenance , it causes damage in long run for instance oil pump will go bad etc.
Did you see the T that I linked in your other thread @morgan ? From memory it was about 10k with 115km
Yes @Chris I will check it out if aami pay up , I always prefer to buy from affluent areas when buying luxury cars this is in Brighton so generally they have the money to look after them , and only 150000 kms look good
For another reference if anyone interested. My 2004 2.5T xc90 was $11,000. My search criteria was beige leather interior, blue and a sunroof which is what she's got. 126,000kms when purchased. It was serviced regularly but my pcv is not good and needs doing asap.

All engine mounts were replaced. Dont go cheap on solid rubber mounts. Go OEM hutchinson hydraulic ones and you'll be happy.

Do looks like I will get xc90 in the coming weeks . 2005 2.5 t with 115000 km or 2008 d5 220000 km with higher spec , both around 10 k
Couple of 100km trips a week and up to qld next year .
So the big question lower k petrol or higher k diesel . Which will give me less headaches in the long run ??
From previous, similar post asking that question, sounds like, diesel only if you do some longer or freeway driving to burn up soot to stop it clogging up doing city trips OR petrol if you only do the city trips so much.
Problem with petrol is the slushbox
Never know when its going to fail

Problem with diesel is you dont know how badly its been abused...

Both listed could easily leave you with a 4k repair bill in near future
But thats true of nearly any used car
