  • A set of 140 Volvo's

Time to confess, and perhaps I have been drinking too much very old beer, but I have completed the long pondered set of 140 Volvo cars, a 145, a 144 and a 142. Now what? Good question. But hopefully this will develop into a good project thread over time.

The cars are:

1974 142, dual carburetor manual, perhaps one of the last Australian made 142's, build 10/74

1971 144 Gl, Fuel injection manual overdrive, imported from Malaysia by Diplomat, I don't know of another survivor in Australia.

1968 145 S, Twin SU B18, made in Sweden, and a pretty uncommon thing in Australia.

All are projects to varying levels. I will be keeping them essentially original but probably with period upgrades if available (M41 all round?), and then they just might be worth something someday?

In the meantime, good fun I hope, and lots of interesting options and challenges ahead.

This is so good. Cant wait to see the progressions big and small on all three of these.
Awesome collection.

You've nearly got the full set! :) Is there room for a 164?
Thank you. It was a 1973 164E that started all the trouble 20 years ago! Can't say I wouldn't go back. But more dry storage comes first. Everything has a place inside now, and I aim to keep that going.
Which one is first?

I like the 12 piece glass on the 145. Reminds me of those old sought after vw kombis with all the glass.

I gather the 145s has come to Tassie to increase the population down here..
Dangit, knew I forgot something. Yeah, another 145 headed down to Taswegia, I was not doing it justice at all.

Yes, true in tassie. Lots still to repair, but it did drive here on a permit, so good progress. Brakes were locked. But it is "I roll" again, and under its own power, making it a step in the right direction away from Simms Metal.

And it has a friend. Really is a set. 1971 144gl, 1974 142, 1968 145, 1974 145, 1974 164. Now for the mad project! Can't be many of us Volvo tragics with a full series set .... Or crazy enough to attempt such a simultaneous project.
Nice to see another B18 145S...what's the VIN on yours? Curious as to how close it is to mine.

Oops sorry my VIN is 1453342P007427...body number is 7274. That info isn't on the pic I posted.

We southerners must have a bug.

I bought a Volvo 145s back with me last September 2019.

Very good nick, but will be doing some restorative on duco soon.No rust. I am told the S is a pretty rare beast but don't know a lot about it yet.

Always loved the box since owning one in the 70s.

Happy motoring.

A 164 manual should also be joining the crew in the south soon.

Fantastic, absolutely fantastic.

I've owned1973 164 5spd manual

1972 145S

1973 144 injected race car

1973 142S.

Brilliant cars, so easy to work on and the sound of dual throat SU's, fantastic.

When we raced in the AROCA 6"hr back in the 1996_2005, we had one of every model race car.

All the best.

Oh, the way we were...
