My experience with Shannon's was not so good In the end. And, before people jump on here saying that I'm not telling the whole story, yes, I am. The facts are as follows:
1995 Volvo 940 turbo wagon insured with Shannons and was written off in February 2021 after an old woman t-boned me. This was in no way my fault and claim was paid out. I bought the car back from Shannons and stuck the B230FK motor in a 1993 940 GL wagon which I then insured with Shannons. This car was rear-ended at a traffic light by ANOTHER old woman in January 2022, and this car was also written off. Was also not my fault in any way and the claim was paid out.
I then purchased a 1988 740 in March 2022, and rang Shannons to insure the car and was told I was not insurable. Before anyone asks, yes, I spoke to several supervisors and my case was then investigated. It was concluded that Shannons/Suncorp will not offer insurance to anyone REGARDLESS OF FAULT if 2 cars were declared a total loss in less than a year. I pursued the issue further and was knocked back every time. Thanks to Shannon it became a headache to find insurance because one question they always ask when applying for new insurance is whether or not you've been denied insurance.... I ended up getting a policy with RACQ, who only ask if you've had any "at fault" claims in the last 3 years.
My experience with Shannons was good when I was insured, but I'm still a bit baffled as to how/why they will no longer insure me. So, just a heads up to anyone who might have some bad luck with old women repeatedly plowing into their cars.
