B20 Turbo in 142

Been watching this with interest, but 1 question, what class are you going to run it in? ( as in CAMS) Or is it for track days etc......

Chris - how did you mount the seats - I assume not on the original rail?look to sit really low

I made my own seat mounts..they are fixed as per the rules.
They are side mount seats and mount directly to the floor

From memory kaplhenke also sell 1/2/7/9 side mount, seat adaptors

The side seats mounts he sells are made to go on the runners.
The runners are long gone from my car.
The exhaust system,intercooler pipes,oil catch can.coolant overflow bottle and turbo oil/coolant feeds line fittings are on the list for this visit

Have you thought of putting a one piece tail shaft in?

Was looking at this today and thought it would probably be stonger, as as II have to get the tailshaft shortened again.. anyone done it before?

No.one peice won't work as it would hit the floor before going into the diff.i much prefer a 2 peice tailshaft

Yeah, I put a one-piece tailshaft in my 144 with the Celica 5 speed, about 30 years ago.

Like many things I did in days past, I wouldn't do it again after having learned from the experience.

The rear suspension didn't go into very much bump before the tailshaft started to rub on the transmission tunnel seam underneath the rear seat. For mostly smooth racetracks, it wasn't an issue, but for the pot-holed goat tracks which the state calls public roads, it was.

Then when you think about it, there's also the issue of adding unsprung weight...

On the exhaust, a resonator would take out the drone (straight thru hot dog)

Doubt there will be much drone, with the muffler that far back.
Never had an issue with drone or chugging with the 3" and single straight through in muffler 1 position on the 745

It will have a resonator after the rear axle.

There is only 1 simmons brand.they are all made in Thailand..
Doesn't bother me where they are made,just going to be bashed off ripple strips anyway lol

The early 90's Simmons were AUSSIE made. After their demise the brand dissapeared for a period of time, then popped up again from Asia.

They definitely changed in finish quality from the old ones.

Yes..but now they are only Thailand made..they will serve their purpose just fine

The locally made units are very desirable now. Much like Japanese multipiece wheels from the 80's/90's they are worth squillions.
