Hi guys,
So I have a 96 850R with 159 thousand K's on it.
A week after I bought it, it overheated. Chucked the dimisters on full heat and limped it home. Started fine but white smoke came from the dipstick. Looked up what could cause it on the net and did the full PCV system. Realized it had never been changed, neither had most of the hoses which were all brittle and perishing.
At the same time, put in a do88 intercooler, do88 alloy radiator, do88 RIP kit, do88 silicone hoses and tubing everywhere, and SNABB air intake pipe.
Ever since I did this the car would fire and instantly rev to about 4000 RPM before dying.
I replaced the spark plugs, idle air control valve, pulled the throttle body off and cleaned it, cleaned the MAF, and put in an IPD short ram air intake.
It now fires but idles very very rough so doesnt run properly and produces no power and pumps a bit of black smoke out the back.
One of the intake manifold bolts snapped when I was making sure they were all tight recently whilst trying to figure out what was wrong. So that may be causing a leak, the other 6 are tight and the gasket is new.
What could be wrong? There is a lambda on the dash bit I don't have a reader.
I have a good offer from a fellow volvo enthusiast in regards to a trade that benefits both of us, but before going down that path wanted to make sure i wasn't missing something simple. I still don't know if the car is overheating but when I left it running for ten minutes this morning it didn't get hot. Not under load though as it was just idling.
Cheers
