Hi Guys, Anyone around that knows a bit about the PRV V6 engines that can answer if we got the E version of the B-280 here in Australia
I am thinking of creating a warmer version of the B28 I have now and was told to start with a B280 and preferably the E version (for the correct heads)
Many thanks

No, the odd fire motor in a lot of ways is good to tune up and the Peugeot guys have done it many times over. No point in the e heads as you can port the f head to be the same. I just hope you use an aftermarket ecu. I ported my f heads on my 760, fitted extractors and decked the heads .35', it is not liked by the factory computer. Plus setting ignition up on it is a difficult thing even with aftermarket ecus.

Thanks Vee_Que, I am looking at either
Option One: build a B-280 block and fitting a three litre even fire crank, and the E code heads, and of course ditch the K-Jet for an aftermarket EMS -
OR
Option Two: pull a three litre even fire out of any Renault or Peugeot we got that has them, and start with that
I might go crazy and stroke it to 3.4 litres and force feed it just for giggles lol
I can get E code heads from the USA but was kind of hoping the late 760 we got here was an E code, looks like I either port the F code or ship a rebuilt set of E heads in, if I can not find a three litre
Thanks for your input

The previous owner of my 780 replaced the B280F heads with Eagle Premier heads. He tells the story here.

And I have a set of B280E heads which are betrothed to VQ, which I guess may be part payment for the 1st intercooler I buy from him.

In the states, they don't have the E heads either. The eagle premier had the e style head which all it is different is the exhaust port restriction. But the Eagles are quite extinct in wreckers over there.
How big is your budget? I had a 24v Citroen motor that I bought and held for 8 years then sold due to realising I'd never get it done, for 2k, so some of the parts are not cheap.
I've never even heard of a 3.4 stroker for these engines. And I've had a v6 volvo since 2005! What are you capabilities? There is a guy in Melbourne who has a b280 w/turbo rods and pistons from a factory turbo Renault 250rwkw 505 and he builds lots of the v6 motors. Do you want his details?

Thanks Guys,
bgpzfm142, interesting reading I will look into that thread in more detail
Vee_Que,
Sorry when I said I can get a set of E heads I should have added "from a Volvo guy that has collected them" yeah I had found out they did not get them stock in the US.
YES I would love to get his details
The gentleman (and I use that word loosely) that creates the stroker kits for these cars races a 164 in the US, forced induction and stroked to 3.4 - custom crank, pistons rods and liners! the class he races in regs state you must use a parent manufactured engine block and heads.
I like the sound of the 24V Citroen engine, what was that out of? was it a three litre?
Budget, well I am looking at all the options and pricing them up - the stroker was - to quote "a whole lot of fun, but for a tonne of money" I am happy to throw a considerable chunk of cash at a good rebuild................
Vee_Que
So you were speaking with John lane then? Honestly, a turbo is your best bet. The 24v motor is very rare and worth 2grand needing a rebuild... Yes its a 3 litre.
But, what is your actual budget? What gearbox do you plan to run, as you will have fun finding a manual of any sort now.
carnut1100
All of the 3 litre cars are rare in Aus....Peugeot 605 they only sold about 50 of them here. Less than a hundred Citroën XMs. No idea how many Renaults but similar numbers is a good guess.
The 24v motors are super rare.
Manual boxes are hard....the Pug guys almost always run the 604 auto box as the only other option is am ultra rare rhd bellhousing or an almost as rare 264 bellhousing matched to an early 505 gearbox.
I've heard figures like less than 200 manual 264s sold here so diet way getting a manual bellhousing isn't going to be easy.
Flywheels can be had aftermarket including light steel ones.
I reckon the 264 auto bellhousing could be adapted to a T5 using a concentric throw out bearing but you won't find anything on the shelf.

I have a m46 and flywheel etc for my 760, need to refresh my thread for pictures!

The more I research this stuff the deeper the pockets need to be! It went from building a replacement B280F to wanting to spend half the national debt on a wild ride - one of the curses of talking with John - stuff gets out of hand pretty quick if you let it!!
Starting to think I need to go back to Plan A and build a nice little B280F with even fire crank and a Manual Conversion
John has all the Manual conversion gear I need but if I can source some of it locally it will bring cost down - looking at converting a PRV M46 bellhousing to suit T5 set up and have been researching that stuff.
Anyone have that kind of gear laying around they want to part with?
Vee_Que
I can supply m46 to t5 adaptor plates.
I fell over from johns prices, 1800 for a set of rods and pistons iirc... Mind you for a turbo build as theres no point going na.
carnut1100
The base of these motors is strong.
Peugeot used basically stock bottom ends to build 400hp na race motors.
The twin turbo Renault versions have huge grunt.

Cool, I might send you a PM re the adaptor, and start chasing the conversion stuff - either way the T5 is going to happen!
Then I can focus on the one thing then I can start working on the engine stuff, my B28 is running OK
