My 240 with LH2.2 B230FT is a bit slow at the moment. The car starts and drives perfectly fine but as boost builds the car feels like it's surging and makes very little power. It seems to happen around 3-4psi and won't build boost above 5psi where it was normally happy up to 12.
I checked the intercooler hoses and they look good (some are new) and I've swapped out the intercooler in case it had popped the end tanks but no change. What else should I check? turbo CBV? Everything is pretty standard and turbo is a 12B.

Ignition. Sounds like it's retarded.
GingerNinja
How would that happen? Belt slipped a tooth or distributor moving?

Does lh2.2 have enough smarts to retard the ignition if it loses some of the sensor inputs?
Vee_Que
No belt slipping, but the hall effect sensor fails and it goes to retard default. So I'd just check the timing with a timing light.
GingerNinja
Timing light shows roughly 12ish degrees at idle (moves around a little but idle isn't perfectly smooth) which from memory is correct. The car seems to be happy under 2psi, or running at over 10psi. In between that and it feels like it's surging and doesn't want to rev.

Spray start ya bastard on everything At idle. How are the plugs? I had something similar in od and it was the plugs. Iridium aren't great for a modified turbo. You cab turn the timing up a bit if you run 98 fwiw

Ok thanks, I'll check those things.
