Im chasing a 2.5inch exhaust or bigger for my 740 , Either cat back or turbo back .

What sort of budget? Probably worth hitting up an exhaust shop and getting quotes for a custom system as not so many aftermarket bits floating around for 740's.

Cheapest i got so far no joke was $2500 cat back

I though ti was smoking something because i called back , Im originally from Brisbane i would get a 3inch exhaust turbo back from $1000

A 3" turbo back system with no cat cost me $600 about ten years ago.

In Canberra I can highly recommend "Roadway Mufflers" (Glenn) in Belconnen town centre. 02 6251 5554
They are custom exhaust experts with very reasonable prices. They stock mandrel bends to make an ace job.

@Xadous I had a 2.5" turbo-back done for $1250 in Sydney, with hi-flow cat. Performance Exhaust Centre in Northmead. They did a really nice job too.

Bin the rear sway bar go stiffer springs so you can go under axle
I got quoted 700 cat back straight pipe +1:
Alternatively get a backyarder or mate with a welder plus a slab or 2 (my option haha)

yea i have just moved from brisbane to Yass

I used to be a Fitter by Trade but i have given that up for the cleaner life >_< Looks like it s time to order some gas and get some pipe and make my own , I spat my coke when he told me 2.5 , I said to him thats titanium yea? answer i got was not mild steel HAHAH

5 hours at 50 an hour minimum, plus $400~ in mufflers and a cat plus misc,oh and exhaust shops seem to pay for an epa licence of some sort too, that's at a minimum, so yeah, you won't do it that much cheaper, especially including the drive there.

And if you charge less an hour, you're ripping yourself off, especially considering all the welding costs and fitting, refitting that needs to be done for a good exhaust that fits closely. I spent 3 hours making a good downpipe a while back, mind you using bends from truck exhausts.

At $50p/h they are ripping themselves off... Most places are around double that these days...

I agree, tucking the exhaust neatly takes a lot of finessing. Also setting it up to use the stock hanger mounts, fixing it to the bellhousing to stop the downpipe from putting pressure on the turbo and manifold. It all takes work. I had a 2.5" done over-axle and it fit just fine.

For a private home workshop, its reasonable.

For what it's worth, I charge $60 an hour to work on cars at home, or $50 for family or big jobs involving lots of labour. The workshops around here charge $90-125 an hour.
