Wastegate Setting - Always Open (a little)

I am trying to get stable boost from a 19T using M4.4. The wastegate spring on the car is 1.2 bar, which seems to be too big to tune for in my application. I have had good results with setting the wastegate so that it is a little bit open by default though. I am happy with the spool up and boost level achieved, as my tyres and injectors are limiting factors here.

The only problem is that I can hear the wastegate rattling open and closed at idle. My question is, will this prematurely wear it out?

I can't imagine it's good for the press fit gate disc. If it's rattling it's more likely to fail than if it doesn't rattle.

I have the opposite issue. Mine opens under full load at 15-17psi and climbs to 20psi.

That's a common issue with 2JZ twin turbo setup if you highflow or if there's carbon buildup as they only have the 1 wastegate for both and it has trouble keeping up.

Yeah my gate actuator is most definitely made of wet noodles.
Without the gate reference connected it will get 5psi at best.

I tightened it back up. Might just have to live with a little bit of spiking, until I feel like putting a softer spring in.

@blondejay Jay, what your problem is exactly? Is your target around 16 psi, but you can't stop the boost climbing past that?

Shit no. My target is 20psi.
Though you can hear the gate come on the gate (gate opens) at around 15psi, and boost slows but climbs.
It's not ideal.

Though shouldn't open under its own pressure. (0 referencing) 5psi and it opens its self.
This has always been an issue.
My mbc with it wound tight and an ultra high pressure spring in it, still can't control it past 15psi. Which means the gate actuatiorbis insufficient. Though t shouldn't be. Supposed to be a 1.5bar
