I have two problems with my heating/ventilation. Car is a 2001 S60, 2.4i auto, but likely that other P2 models are similar.
Problem 1:
There is a noise from the blower motor when decelerating - I guess it is best described as a trilling noise, high pitched, very like plastic on plastic at high speed. Noise stops the instant car comes to rest, or starts accelerating again. My surmise is the fan is plastic, and there is excessive end float, causing it to rub on something.
Is the fan easy to remove? Any photos of the fan so I know what I am dealing with?
Any other suggestions?
Problem 2:
See photo of passenger side foot well. Signs of coolant leakage. I have put a paper towel in the gap between the dash plastic and the carpet. I see one to two drips worth of coolant on it after a short (20 min) freeway drive, haven't noticed anything on 15km town drives though. Previous owner was quoted an inordinate amount of money to replace a heater core about 3 years ago, so I suspect there has been an issue for some time.
Is this likely to be a corroded core, or could it be a weeping valve? How easy to remove/replace the heater core if it does need done? Any links to useful sites for a RHD car?
TIA
