Got a vehicle to move from Port Pirie, two hours outside Adelaide to Brisbane. Have contacted the major carriers for quotes, does anyone know of any minor carriers that might be cheaper. So far they are quoting 1000-1300.
Its in good running order, so its drive on drive off, and id prefer door to door as its not registered.

1000-1300 seams dead on for door to door of that distance

Prolly cheaper to a depot. Small carriers dont do big trips. CEVA is good bet.

Thanks fellas, looks like one of the big guys is going to get my business. CEVA or PRIX CAR.
Unfortunately Patricks won't take anything over 35yrs old!

Car not driveable? Plane ticket + about 1935km (20h 15m) drive back, assuming 9 km/L = 215 litres of fuel @ $1.40 = $300 in fuel + temporary permits.

Yes it is driveable and in really good condition and the South Australians have bargain temp permits 60- dollars for three days.
I considered a weekend run.
Fuel I worked on 400-
Plane 350 short notice or 150 advance purchase.
20 hrs return 2 days equals one night motel 100- or back seat 0 dollar's.
70- food
Its getting close to shipping cost, I still considered it for a little adventure time.....
But she is not in Adelaide itself so would also need one way car hire or bus to Port Pirie 60-100. 2.5hrs travel plus. Also cant buy a temp permit online unless a registered SA customer, so need to be there early on a Friday, go to transport office and purchase. One more night accommodation food etc....
Then if I factor in the car as an unknown, travelling with no tools and potential breakdown and dollar costs and time costs which is unlikely but always possible then shipping looks better and better....... But still I would prefer to fly and drive

I wouldn't risk it myself. Worth the money to not have the stress of the engine failing on the way home....

I did it from VIC to NSW. I don't think I would have trusted any other unknown car except a 240. (I later realised the oil filter was barely screwed on by the PO - it spun with one finger!) I slept a few hours about three times, over two days - in the car. Watched for truckies - they gather where there's free showers. Ate at takeaways - hamburger or BBQ chicken type - not McDonalds/KFC - too expensive and you're hungry again too soon. Jetstar had a bag size limit. So I stuffed a pillow, blanket, two shirts into a bag that was just within their size limit, soap, toothpase/brush - and couldn't fit a entire towel - so I cut one in half! Later several guys got on the plane with bags 3x the size, LOL! Shame about the plane cost. (I paid $90.) Worst part about it was falling asleep while driving - and passing all these places you want to stop and look, but get sick of driving and just want to get home, LOL.
Edit: Did go to McDonalds a few times for their NPTN though (national public toilet network).

Sounds like quite a trip!
Love the NPTN.
The smart thing for me in.this situation is to get it moved on a truck
