Hi I had an update from Yollo regarding the York show, so thought I would share it here. Would there be anyone interested in a run? Or attending the curtain show in sept.
Regards Gav
Hi all
Well the first event went very well for myself (new kid) and Wayne (old kid).
No doubt that the highlight of our display was the 544. The Volvo display in general was the best display there and the owners of the other 218 cars were very jealous.
Next event is participation at the Curtain Show – attached.
Also Bruce – with a 1800 – a new member to the club suggests an event at Wesley College on the 2nd Oct – google comorotarycarshow.
I’ll be doing both.
These are not much of a ‘run’ – but a show and bullshit event – but good fun.
Anyone interested in a weekend run?? Not to Broome – but maybe Mandurah/Pinjarra/Bunbury/Toodyay/Northam/York/Lancelin / Gingin / New Norcia.
Cheers
Iolo

From lokie on the WA Volvo enthusiasts pages
As August rapidly approaches, does anyone know of any car meets happening that we could tag along to as our first proper gathering?
Or would everyone like our first meet to be just Volvo's to start?
Opinions and dates also welcome!

It was a great to finally meet up with you Gav!
The 240 was really nice. Don't see that many of them out and about! At least cared about.
Look forward to more meets in the future.
I was thinking about doing a run up the Cafe on the Dam, and maybe a nice cruise through the hills for the next one.

It was a good meet, finally putting faces to names. Would be good to have a run and hopefully a couple more 240! Join in

Hi,
I am relatively new to this forum and working on modding my 96 850R. Anyone out there in Perth whom I can find out about mods for the 850R?
Thanks!
Eugene

Hi @Eugene in our wee club we have Volvo pv544 through to new XC variants and a wealth of knowledge, a few of the guys on the p1 platforms @Mizuyaki have hade tunes done, not sure about bolt ons.
Have you been on the Facebook forum yet?, we are all a bunch of friends guys and there is a meet a week on Sat down baldivis.
gavinh
For any one in WA or East coasters on hols over here, their will be a meet in baldivis @ masters old carpark on safety Bay Rd about a km off the Freeway, then a cruise upto serpentine dam on the 27th of August.
If you don't drive a Volvo and you want to see what were about and have a gander

Hi Gav,
Thanks again and I will check it out as I don't use a smartphone (yet) and will have to get to my computer to log on!
Where do you service your Volvo?
gavinh
I do every thing my self, my V70xc has the same engine I think? (B5254T) as the 850 T5 but I have the low pressure turbo (lpt). Check out my thread on stage 0 on the v70xc
Eugene
Lucky you!!! Wish I knew how to do it myself. Would save me labour costs. I would pay you as I have everything sitting in my garage especially the DO88 big pack!!!
gavinh
I don't mind helping out but my free time is very limited as im fifo, grab your self a Haynes manual off ebay and start small, installing a rip kit or just the pipes, is a relatively easy job with very basic hand tools and the pleasure it give you afterwards knowing that you done it.
Also there are some great tutorial on youtube by this guy with a black 850/v70
gives you an over view of the job
Have you managed to get on the face book site yet, I think you might find it beneficial as there are a lot of like minded guys wanting to pull more hp from there motor and gain better handling.
Eugene
Hi Gav, yes got that Haynes manual but am so scared to touch the engine for fear of it falling apart!
You mean the DO88 intercooler kit is "easy" to install???!
Will check it out on my day off tomorrow....work shifts too, but based in Perth.
Hoping to talk to someone who has the same model as well because they would know which parts are compatible or not...
gavinh
There's no danger of the engine falling apart, but some of the plastic fitting are gonna be brittle as I found out the other day and snapped my plastics heater core inlet and outlet on the bulk head side. Never done the intercooler myself, but can't be much different to a radiator in removal and fitting? We're are you based?

Hi Gav,
I live in Applecross, off Canning Highway. Yourself? Would love to go for the car meetups but have to admit, would be ashamed of driving my car there, as there is a lot of work to be done to bring it up to scratch; mounts, sway bars, etc.
I drive trains and have seen the carpark just before the Freo Station, and my car would not be the pristine 850R (yet), next to some of the lovely Volvo classics!
The positive side is that I have all the parts, except for control arms as I have to figure out if they need changing or just the control arm bushings only.
Sometimes I wish there was a Volvo Performance Mods specialist here in Perth, such as VP Tuning in Melbourne!
