Good Morning,
I am a new Volvo owner, and am interested in removing the torque limits on the transmission and increasing performance to 300kw
I have read some of the forums, and they all talk about the weakness of the 5 speed auto transmission, and the angle gear. I did consider a 6 speed auto swap, but this doesn't seem to be straight forward transmission in transmission out swap.
i have read threads about welding the angle gear and upgrading the torque converter and valve body of the transmission.
Has anyone here had any success in modifying/strengthening the 5-speed Aisin AW55-50/51SN?
Has anyone used the eleven10 transmission upgrades?
Has anyone had any success welding the angle gear?
Regards
James

Morning and welcome!
Love your car! Pix please!?
I don't know much but Voldat in Melbourne do upgrades for them , ask Mark Richardson , go to his website VP Tuning.
He's gearboxes are iffy but you can put good coolers on them , flush em lots , update software etc.
L10 was interesting reading , not sure about them
I like the idea of cryo treating all the parts though. Expensive maybe. (And off topic really)
Let us know!?

Sell the one you have and find a manual one that has a transmission not made of cheese
I've not heard of any modified 5 speed auto lasting long term (>30k km) in a car making over 300KW
