Tassie6er
Hello to everyone, it has been a while since I've posted and for those that know me, it will come as no surprise that another early model 240 series Volvo has entered my world. This time it is a 1979 245 L in a particularly period shade of green. It's had two owners and travelled about 420,000. It is fairly tired and carb is badly out of tune, so at this stage I'm just tinkering away with it in an attempt to get it to run property. Anyhow, i"m going to list the parts I need on the wanted page and will keep you up to date with the car over time.
Kind regards,
Becher

That's a beauty! Where'd ya find that gem?

I've got a similar 245 called Bruce Lee and the owner of this one made contact and asked if I'd like it - can't do better than that - a lovely guy who lived at Shark Point Road, Midway Point.

Cleaned that engine bay yet? I want to see some before and after pics :-) Hopefully my bay cleaning inspired you.
Are you planning on polishing that duco? That looks like fun.

Hey Al,
I've had to order the degreaser from Bunnings, so it hasn't arrived yet. But will post when done!

So after a couple of weeks and a bit of encouragement from Big Al, i"ve cleaned up the 245L - it now looks like a complete and running car. Happily I've managed to chase down just about everything I need, but I can't for the life of me get the carburettor set up properly.

Wow, that polishing really cleaned her up!

Thanks for the encouragement - hopefully we'll have it running properly this weekend!

Very Nice!! If you're not planning on going to the national meet then please bring that to Cars n Coffee in Launy on October 16.
I'm thinking of buying a gas analyser so we have shove a probe up our exhausts and check our mix. :-) lol I know lots of people with old cars now and this would be a handy tool for them to get them running right.
Did you buy some Aerospace 303?

Also, what products did you use in the end to polish it up? Hand or machine polish?
Tassie6er
Hey Al, I'll see what I can do in terms of coming up for the 16th - I polished the car with Repo cut by hand - I've seen too many cars with burnt paint to know on something like this, you run the risk of killing what duo you have left. Have you got a pic of those wheels on yet? I haven't got the 303 yet...

Sweet!
I've seen that car about...it was living in Dunalley for a while.
Shame it's been turned into a wagon...
Tassie6er
Greg, that is the one and I agree - but unfortunately that was the fate for most of the L wagons I suspect!

Welcome to copy mine if you want to try and revert it....

Tassie6er.....Saw your car at Westerway, loaded to the gunnels, a month ago.
It's inspired me to seek out another old Volvo to curate and save.
You've done a lovely job and it was great to see it loaded up and on the road.
Cheers,
Richard ( old bloke in the Alfa )

If you're interested I've got a 245L with the original cargo barrier and floor intact that I'm not going to get to....and I couldn't think of anyone I'd rather pass it on to.

Greg, you're a gentleman, thanks for the kind words.
We'll take this all a step further, indeed it's a pleasure to be reacquainted.
Wonderful!
