Ahhh ..... not
Chris
Hell no. Whoever thought that was a good idea? I love that he said there's not many about. If they did a run of them most have probably been torched to put them out of their misery
UltimateDave
Nah they never did a run of them from factory. Sad thing is, only 600 of them were bought to Australia, and he's ruined one of the rust free examples (imo).

"for more details contact me as i do not have time to reply online"
= "I don't have time so waste yours instead (which actually wastes mine too in the end anyway) with a long distance phone call because I left out so much of the meaningful information buyers need to make a decision, that I would expect myself when buying a car, that I'll be answering the same questions a dozen times."
(And if you can't be bothered answering emails after leaving that info out and listing a car ONLINE on the INTERNET where EMAIL is the main form of communication... it probably reflects the level of care taken elsewhere in one's life - such as oh, I don't know - like the vehicles you own.)
> Whoever thought that was a good idea?
Actually, I don't mind the look of it - at first glance and side on (photo 6) - and - without that ugly vinyl roof on. Except when it is fitted... that rear window looks awful, sticking up nearly vertical!? And... that last photo - am I seeing the top of the door correctly? (Difficult to tell on this laptop screen - but it looks like it's been done with a reciprocating saw with a blunt blade skipping around.) Rubber just hacked off... And wouldn't it have looked better to completely remove the vertical window channel too, down to the horizontal of the door.
Actually on second and third look, I changed my mind - it's awful, LOL.
(Sorry if you're on ozvolvo.)

Um... I just noticed the price. Just. Wow. :-O

It's a bit like seeing an old movie star who's past their best, with a *really* bad toupee on...
morgan
I actually love the look with the roof off ( apart from hacked doors ) and I dought its much fun with the roof on ( or waterproof ) but I still love it but then I would love any 5 seat convertible
Chris
Never said it was a factory run, just some deluded individuals did runs of things like VWs with heinous roofs (rooves?) even worse than this one and so on.
Even roof down it's a problem - you start to see the nasty details in the way it has been chopped...
AshDVS
Nope.

So, some big talk in the ad... How long until it's "$1500ono, will swap for tinny or something with rego"?
UltimateDave
It really would be only worth $1500 tops imo. Butchering it like that has completely destroyed the value. Although, if it does get down to that price, it would be a good donor car for another 242GT with a roof.
Chris
Not to mention 15k gets you a decent C70 among a million other, better options
Fingers
I just looked at the ad properly ....$15K!!!!!!!!!!!!
And wow.... it gets uglier
GingerNinja
What would the handling be like without the roof adding rigidity? I'm picturing driving a fast sweeper and having the windscreen fall in your lap.
Rob
that is the worst thing I have ever seen
carnut1100
Hideous with roof up....quite average with roof down.
I've seen photos of a convertible job done on a 142 but done properly...it can be done to look good.
This ain't it though...
Vee_Que
Wait, 242gts are worth more than $3000 anyway? The people writing in this make the gt model sound like a rare special car worth a fortune, when they aren't....
And honestly. I prefer to receive phone calls, as people emailing or smsing usually waste my time.

$15K? Um. No thanks, I'll rather import a 240T from the US, do a RHD swap, restore, respray & rego, and have change.
And a roof.

And a roof.
