I want to figure this out anyway. I hate that the car doesn't have power steering, it SUCKS, it takes a lot of the joy out of driving it, especially in the city, and the low suspension doesn't help either.
The B21/23 pump/reservoir won't fit under the charge air pipe coming over the top of the engine (nope, I'm not going to modify any of the R-Sport parts to make it work).
But, I think if I switch to a modern A/C compressor, which I want to do anyway (the York 210... I'm glad I climbed that mountain and got the A/C working well, but I'm 10 years into this project now and the compressor is once again having issues).
So my goal is to figure out a bracket that can mount a Sanden compressor and a p/s pump. The best pump is probably the B230 one with the reservoir mounted over on the wheel arch.
Otherwise, the drive to Bathurst and back I averaged about 11.4L/100km in this car, not bad considering I was pretty lead-footed, we did some laps of Mt Panorama, not to mention the ascent/descent over the Blue Mtns. That's true mileage also, adjusted for the error in my speedo. That was the first long drive I've done with the carb-turbo setup. I checked everything over back in Sydney, and everything was great. On long drives I think I'll bring a pipette so I can replace the dashpot oil, it thinned out a little bit I think from fuel vapour slowly mixing into it.
