  • 240 sway bars from a GLE or aftermarket (IPD etc)

Looking to buy either the 23/21mm, 23/23mm, or ipd sway bars for a 240. Contact me through here if you can help us out! Victoria preferred but willing to look into postage
I'll have a look for you on the weekend to see what size sways are on my parts GLE
IPD ones will be hens teeth and surely exxy as the cost a bomb to bring over. GT ones are a good idea....

Talk to @AshDVS about good option for what you want to do...
Yeah I could buy them from ipd and happy at the price but then postage just blows that out too much. Saw Ash today actually, said that locally I might find some GLE ones if I'm lucky but will be hard pressed to find the 23mm ones as they were an R-sport option and never actually came on a factory stock car.
Yeah, I was lucky in getting some thick sways with the Moose. I haven't driven the parts car, but will measure em up for you
I don't know if the're interchangable but you should find heavier bars on the stock 760 and 960.
Vp tuning might still have some from their big ipd order.

Not interchangeable I'm afraid.

Bigger bars are nice on a road car where you're using a not-as-grippy tyre and smaller spring rates.

Make sure you measure used bars, my 82 GLE had 21/21, which were only a slight improvement over the 19/19mm bars on the GL.
Yeah I almost made that mistake at pick-a-part. I got under the car, wd-40'd everything and started taking them off when I decided to measure and they were 21/21 so not worth it. I might wait until someone is doing an IPD run and bite the bullet.
21mm would be worth it, particularly with the suspension in your car @PaulG
They'll make a definite and noticeable difference.
Not as big a difference as a 23mm or larger dia set, but worth the effort.
23mm was actually available from factory on a road car, 242GT's had them for one year only I believe, but obviously that still means they're very hard to find. 21mm can be sourced from any 244GLE from '81 or later, or from any '86 or later 240 (and some '85's). I have a pair of 21's that I can sell you, $100 for the pair.

23mm front is found on GTs, combined with 21mm rear.
23mm rear was an R sport option though. The 23mm rear I had was the only 23mm rear bar I'd seen.
Can always go TB style and do the double rear swaybar mod.....

I have a set of swaybars taken from a low mileage 1985 Volvo GLE front 21mm & rear 19mm.

Hugh Shorten.
23mm rear swaybars are out there. I have 23/23 on my 244, but it's difficult to get traction out of corners. 23/21 might be better, or something like 26/23.
