Hi,
I have a whining noise and is till suspect it is the turbo.
Anyone have a replacement in good condition?
I'm in Brisbane
Thanks
Johan

Ive got a 15g that would suit a rebuild or a 16t in my car right now if your desperate?
jagardh
Thanks @Ghettobird
No rush really. I have a 15g that came out of the car and it developed side shaft play very quickly. I will pull the 16t that's in the car and have a look.
I guess an option is just to buy a new chra and try that.
Cheers
Rob
disappointing that the 16T is no good. I never had an issue with it

Someone on here listed the largest bolt on 20T complete turbo for sale not long ago for $400 i believe. Obviously would need a retune to support its potential.
Another option to is to rebuild it, kits on ebay can be had for around $60. Just have to mark the housing/wheel if you don't want to have it re balanced.

I did a rebuild of my 15g and I'm not sure if i did a bad job. (Just marked it up and didn't balance it). Rob supplied me with a 16t that had the same noise. I did only remove the turbo side and left the turbine housing still mounted to the car.
I'm questioning myself if I somehow managed to bend the shaft will installing both turbos while fiddling with the clamp holding hot and cold side together....
Ghettobird
Youd know if you ham fisted it enough to bend a shaft or a fin
Did you check your oil supply and drain lines? could be blocked
jagardh
I have checked oil drain but not supply. Will change the supply line at the same time I'll change turbo.

I have whining too , its not gonna fail anytime soon....
Take your time. Do a new build with parts. @philliabear can help with parts to do it.

Actually , 20G stuff is uber cheap on ebay , just use Garrett bearing bits , @blondjay can help you , and off you go.

@Barwick10 has the 20T complete turbo for sale. Here is the thread.

Garrett bearing bits on a TD04 though?
20T is a massive jump from originally wanting a 16t
Vee_Que
You need to have the whole lot balanced when re kitting them. Parts you replace in the kit are inherent to its balance. But you could have a blocked feed or something if you've killed two turbos...

OP wanted 16T or 18T, in my experience the 20T was an improvement over the 19T billet wheel but nothing substantial.
From memory 200-300 rpm laggier to spool (20T vs 16T), the biggest gains are mid range and top end due to the ability to run and hold more boost.
Max flow rates of the Td04 wheels i found on the web.
15g 428cfm
16t 435cfm
18t 485cfm
19t 500cfm
20t 520cfm??

Thanks for all the replies guys!
I have ordered CRHA from uk. Made by mellet and I paid 350$ including freight. Also ordered new oil feed line to make sure that's not clogged.

Yes The guy that balanced a turbo of mine said one small amount of oil lacquer gets in there and the Jurbo is toast. That could be as you put the oil feed on and break it free from the threads.
