I've got a set of 4 good centre caps (one of them is unused NOS) and two damaged centre caps. For sale as a set, no you can't just buy the NOS one on its own.

Hi James, do you know if they fit these kind of late steelies (from an '89 240) and if so, how do they clip on?

Hey Rico, no they don't/you would have to modify them. The older steelies have a hole between each lug that has a clip in it, and the clips are what hold the cap in place. I have two such steelies in stock. The other two are with Matt from the Iroll group.

Roger - thanks for the info! Of all the bits of 240s (and Volvos in general), the complexities of wheels and their various types and dimensions are still the bit that totally escape me :)

The short answer is they're all too small and too narrow.

@lasercowboy I have a set of stock, boring plastic 240 hubcaps that will fit those wheels if you're interested.

@240 thanks, but I have a set of those in the shed! they're what i took off to paint the wheels black (mainly because @iceton1975 said if he saw those atrocious hubcaps again he'd throw my wheels away!)

I think the metal hubcaps look kinda smart, but I'm ok with keeping just the black steelies for now. Maybe Virgos one day soon... maybe. But my bank account needs to recover from the S40 first!

I have the dreaded plastic ones on my 1992 240.They are suffering from gutter rash.Their great advantage is that they are readily available if you need a replacement.This thread seems to ignore the wider question of whether (or not)metal hubcaps for 14 inch 240 steel wheels actually exist. Cannot recall ever seeing them but I can be a little unobservant!

What do you mean metal hubcaps? This thread is about metal hubcaps originally fitted to a 1977 244 on 14" steelies. There's also the larger dinner plate caps:
