So my brain is damaged...
The original plan with the silver T4 was that it was to be MY car, away from daily duties and carting the kids and all that... meaning that I could tinker with it, and if it blew up or got punted into a wall at a track day then it wasn't really a drama... and that I could turn into a dedicated motorsport car if I wanted.
Hasn't worked out like that - partly because I like it so much, and mostly because it is such a nice commuter car...
I sold some of the shitboxes out of my backyard recently, and took the opportunity to buy another T4, to be MY car again...
This is the one I bought.
Funnily enough, I'd looked at - and rejected - this one before I bought the silver one. The paint was too rough, and it didn't go anywhere near well enough for the $4500 ask. Plus it has been smoked in - not a lot, and not recently, but enough that is smells bad on a hot day.
But this time around, my criteria was different and the sale price was around half the old $4500 asking price.
Got it home and had a look for the reason it was so damn slow - I'd have put money on a blocked catalytic converter or muffler, but I started with a set of new spark plugs Egads gave me a while back. The real fault showed up pretty quickly (see crack in the top one):
With that fixed, it was much better.
Then I gave it a good clean inside and out. The previous owner didn't trash it, but nor did he lavish it with love and attention - or clean it before advertising it...
Next step is to get it past rego. It will need a pair of front indicators, but should otherwise pass.
Following that, we begin to have some fun. I got stooged on a set of DMS shocks from an Evo6 that promised to be easy to adapt, so I need to work out which way to jump there.
I will build my own 3" exhaust system out of the two old systems and a brand new cat I already have here.
I'll figure the rest out when I get there...
