TD04-12b: AN10 oil drain leaves no space for hose fitting

I put a drain on my TD04. I don't have a hardline to re-use, and the block has an AN10 fitting on it, so it is easiest to use an AN10 fitting at the turbo. This is what I did on my old 15g that @JamesM now has, but on the 12b it seems the bracket for the wastegate actuator gets in the way. Has anyone had this issue? How did you solve it? I was considering moving the actuator bracket to the front side of the cold-side housing, but I'd have to meddle with the actuator rod to make that work.

I had braided lines on my 240 an10 aswell mine just cleared my turbo was a td05 12b tho

@87240gl what sort of fitting did you use at the turbo end? Because this one definitely doesn't leave enough clearance for the hose fitting.

I have a hardline... Cut and shut. Otherwise angle fitting.

The one I had on my td05 was a solid unit with the rubber coupling.
You can't clean out your existing unit james?

That was the original drain line cut to suit the block and remove the silly O ring. I think they have a bend in them

One option would be to cut the AN fitting off flush with the flange, grind the fitting down a bit and weld it on at an angle, so that the AN hose fitting clears the rod.

Or use the hose fitting in the auction link, heat it with a blowtorch and bend it slightly to keep it away from the rod.

I think it will clear the rod fine if it goes straight down. The actuator rod isn't the issue here, though the photo might be misleading. The issue is the clearance between the fitting and the bolts holding the actuator's bracket.

Ah yep, the photo makes it look like the rod is in the way.

It wouldn't be hard to drill the actuator bracket to suit a countersunk head bolt as shown above, if a dome head bolt is still too big.

The bracket itself still doesn't leave much free space. Certainly trying to solve it that way is a bit over the top when I can just put a hard fitting on and attach the hose with a hose clamp.

I just had cheap ebay braided hoses

I just used the straight end on the turbo than the 45°bend i used down at the block
