Most sellers are highly negotiable too - or they become highly negotiable after having it advertised for weeks without any interest... They're a sort of forgotten about model, in a lot of ways. Plus they're (unfairly) tarnished by association with the 440 in the minds of many.
Good points. I found a few for sale at similar price points and they were wildly different. One needing engine work, one with an interior that looked like crap, one needing new brake pads and a cv boot, otherwise excellent. That was the one I bought, and I negotiated a lot off the price as seller had listed it for 3 weeks with no bites and really preferred not to do the roadworthy himself.
For the one day I had it, it was a great car to drive and I was growing to appreciate it more. Gearbox seemed good with nice shift points (except when cold at initial start up), 1.8l engine smooth and quiet, if underpowered. Comfortable and supportive seats. Maintenance looked like it was going to be easy.
