Neat work on the fuses - a job I've contemplated myself many times.

LED bulbs throughout the whole dash will be the best decision you ever make - I was so blown away by the difference. I had to make the ones that illuminate the instrument cluster custom, but totally worth it.

I know theres not a lot of space but ive used these before on a 244 for accessories.

There are other styles inc 90deg but i found these worked best on the original box.

Tried those and not enough room with this style of pins. also tried male female terminals, in the end just replaced all the terminals with bigger 5-6mm terminals.

Went for a good run yesterday and all the gauges work and hold steady ( except the fuel keep dropping the further I went) starts cold much easier and idles better and me thinks went better ( maybe brain need recalibration).

Yay!! 2 weeks without an electrical issue. Then I went for a drive up the coast and fried the headlight relay.
No biggy, I'll bypass it and fit more bosch relays. Well not quite, it seems that the Volvo relay is a latching relay, oh josh, that's just lovely.
So I've removed the low beam wiring and set it up to the relays I had already installed that used the Volvo relay as a switching unit. That was pretty straight forward, solder yellow wire to the white /blue wire to the headlights, or in my case to the relays for low beam, one per side.
High beam seems to be a PIA as the flasher stalk is momentary on only, that means fitting a latching relay/relays so that high beam can work. Thought for a moment that I could remove the earth for the flash and power it, but the switch doesn't have a stay on/off contacts. So I'll see if I can get a latching relay on Monday if not I'll make up a batch relay setup.

When this is done I'm also going to wire in a relay to the overdrive as it seems to have a mind of its own about when it wants to work, so I do my stuff and hopefully it will work all the time.

When its all finished it will have,
2 relays for low beam
2 relays for high beam
1 relay for driving lights
1 latching relay for high beam
1 relay for starter motor
1 relay for A/C clutch and low/high pressure switch
1 relay for fuel pump, booster for std fuel relay
1 relay for immobiliser
1 relay for over drive.

Hopefully that gets rid of the issues I've had with all the electrics, then I'll do the dash and lights.

Has anyone actually done a R sport dash to LED here in Aust. I got some globes but they don't seem to throw enough light sideways so I've ordered another different type to try, along with LEDs for the interior light. I actually ordered 20 of these by mistake so if they work ok I'll have a few to share.

Anywho have a whinny.

Finally finished this off, using a VW beetle headlight relay, wired in in as per the picture and now I have really good headlights, nice and bright, so obviously the old relay and wiring was really stuffed.
The relay part number is DNI 0127, just don't buy it from the US or UK, bastards are rip offs, $50 del from UK $80 plus from US, local from Micks Garage $30.

If you have a GT the white wire from the D/L relay goes to the red high beam wires.

Hopefully I can use these for the idiot lights,

Just waiting for a cooler weekend day so I can R&R the dash and fit my new bits in.

Also got myself some power steering racks and pumps etc, to go with my new rack so between everything I can fit it up all in one go. Question time, are the joining shaft different between manual and power racks???

Replacing the charge warning (AMP) incandescent globe with an LED can sometimes lead to the alternator field windings not being 'flashed', and so the regulator is known to play silly buggers when that happens.

Already have a resistor inline for that, so hopefully that will do the trick otherwise will play around until I find the right size or I'll just run an incandescent globe.
My sparky suggested to fit resistors in the dash globes as well in case the failed globe throws in but I'll wait until its done and see, I'm hoping the dash light rheostat will make it all good.

Put them in my hilux dash they don't dim not enough current draw to load up the rheostat

So last night wash the car for C&C, go to turn on the lights coming into the shed and NUFFIN, just an volt meter going downwards. Turn them off and have a gander and 1 smoked released wiring and relay. F..k F..k F..k not happy Jan.
Trace wires and I've got one BIG short, disconnect and rewire the low beam bypassing the lamp out shit. All good now have low beam.
Did C&C ,came home and well need to find where the issues are and fixem.

Headlight switch went off and on if I wiggled the switch so strip down and found this.........................

More F..k F..k, replace all the wires back as far as needed and repluged the switch and bingo lights even when wiggled. So far so good. Ok dash is out might as well fit the new dash and LED's, nope, Mumma bear has put the envelope with the warning light strip away safely, so it won't get lost or damaged. Last time I asked they were still looking for it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(Am I the only one who has this done to them????)

So tried the LED's and they don't work. Removed the plugs and wiring and found that in their wisdom, whoever fitted the dash at the dealership wasn't real smart (DOH) yep pos side to earth and neg to switch, still works but surely the BRAIN should have questioned why one wire was REAL tight and the other one lots of spare wire?????
Fitted the LEDS and wired them up and now having Lunch, I'll let you know if anymore dramas.

If I sell this car, one thing is IT WILL BE SORTED.

So all sorted and LED's in, nice find is that with the multi led top units the rheostat actually works, win....,

These work well, bright and clear

In the R sport dash these just don't throw enough light, standard dash they would probably work alright, so if someone wants some to try, ask away.

Fitted new BJ's today, TRWs from Rockauto, offset same as what was on there,even though this car has never had power steering, another myth on what GTs came with. Even though the old BJ's didn't have signs of wear the difference between new and old is surprising, steering is a lot easier and lighter, so maybe the old originals were shot after all.
Dropped the gear box and o/d oil again, but the O/D just sometimes just won't slip in after 3 hrs+ of driving so maybe time to change the solonoid. But first I think I'll rewire it and use the O/D switch as an earth to the relay and try that.

I'm really starting to get use to driving this and maybe I might keep it, dunno! Got till April to decide.

Making stuff, mounted fuel filter to L/H strut bar, made the Right one solid through the center to stop it bending
and then made the strut bar, probably cheaper to buy one from Ash, but,meh! I made it like most stuff I do,

Fitted LEDs to the front footwells so now when I drop shit in the dark I can find it
