jen We have just replaced this car with a secondhand s40 and so unfortunately our old 240 has to go. It has done about 270,000k (odometer is broken) and is registered until later this month. It goes reasonably well, but has been a little hard to start recently, although that could be because we haven't been driving it much at all. Seats are in reasonable condition, relatively new tyres, has a tow bar and good sound system. However as you would expect of a car of this age there are some things that need attention eg. boot and bonnet latches, broken window handle and glove box front (and odometer). Would rather a Volvo enthusiast buy it (even if just for parts for a project) than a scrap metal dealer so have posted it here to see if anyone is interested.
jen Just took a snap on my phone but any tips how to post it? Also, I suppose I was looking at around $1000.
Spac Photos have to be put up on Flickr or photobucket or similar, and then linked to. (Don't use photobucket - it's been slowly destroying my will to live over the last few months). Auto/manual? Sedan/wagon? To be honest, unless it is a manual wagon, it sounds like you will be lucky to get your asking price (subject to photos, of course). Also, engine bay photos are important.
jen Thanks for the advice. It's an automatic sedan (white). Also re price, of course willing to negotiate on that. EDIT: Photos added
jen Any interest at all in this car? We haven't advertised it anywhere else and as rego expires on Tuesday (28th Jan) we will probably just sell it to the wreckers after then. Also, the car is actually a 240GL (if that makes any difference), it has only had two owners and we have original log books etc. Open to any reasonable offer.
Spac TBH, you're best chance of getting rid of it is to put it on Gumtree (and here!) for $500ono, and seeing what interest you get. You will probably be able to get rid of it here if you price it just above the wreckers have offered - someone will probably feel pity on it and want to save it...
jen Yes, happy to save it from the wreckers, especially since it has been such a good car, it is registered and still goes etc. Will call wreckers on Tuesday to get a price but in the meantime also happy to consider any reasonable offer. Sounds like less than $500 is more in the ballpark.
